Plant Overview
A lovely variegated form of our common Elder. Like it's common cousin, masses of white flowers adorn the shrub in spring, followed by bunches of purple berries in late summer.
The foliage is green with yellow, silver and white distinctive markings.
Smaller than its common cousin, so it makes an excellent garden shrub.
Height and spread: 4m x 2m
Prune hard in early winter or early spring. Can be cut down to ground level each year if you want to keep it as a small shrub.
Common name(s): Variegated Elder
Synonyms:
Sambucus nigra 'Albomarginata'; Sambucus nigra 'Albovariegata'; Sambucus nigra 'Argenteomarginata'; Sambucus nigra 'Variegata'
