Plant Overview

Very finely cut, almost black foliage, which is the perfect foil to the pink-flushed blooms. Red-black elderberries follow the flowers in mid-late summer. In autumn, its leaves turn a rich red.

Height and spread: 6m x 6m

Prune hard in early winter or early spring. Can be cut down to ground level each year if you want to keep it as a small shrub.

Like its cousin, the common elder, the flowers and fruits can be cooked and used in drinks.

Common name(s): Black Elder

All our plants are supplied in 9x10cm pots unless otherwise specified. Plants in this size pot establish quickly in the garden and often outpace plants in bigger pots planted at the same time. Our potted plants can be planted immediately, unless otherwise noted, or you can leave them in their pots until you are ready to plant. We grow almost everything we sell ourselves, in our nursery in the Buckinghamshire countryside. Our prices include VAT at 20%.
