This Night-Scented Phlox is looking stunning at the moment. They are fantastic patio plants, either in the border or in a container, because the flowers release a beautiful fragrance in the evening, to reward you just when you're enjoying a glass of something cold after a hard day gardening!

The blooms close during the heat of the day, exposing the lovely burgundy-red backs of the petals. Then, as day draws to a close, they open wide to release their scent and show off their snow-white faces.

Contrary to popular belief, these plants are pretty hardy, down to at least -5c and ours actually came through the 'beast from the east'.
