Plant Details

Looking good through all seasons and growing in any aspect, It is a vigorous grower, yet not overly invasive. It is tough, fully hardy and evergreen with pretty mauve-purple flowers produced from Spring through to Autumn, once established it will need next to no attention. A particularly tolerant plant, it will be happy in shade or sun, with deep green foliage carpeting the ground.

This form of the Lesser Periwinkle has rounded plum-purple single flowers effusively in spring and then sporadically through to autumn. A fast growing very useful groundcover plant.

Ideal for those dry shady areas where nothing much grows. Also very good on banks, verges or cascading over dry walls etc.

Height: 20cm

Syn: Vinca minor 'Purpurea'; Vinca minor 'Rubra'

Common name(s): Lesser Periwinkle

All our plants are supplied in at least 9x10cm pots. Plants in this size pot establish quickly in the garden and often outpace plants planted in bigger pots at the same time. We do not sell 'plug plants' because those need to be grown on before planting. Our potted plants can be planted immediately, unless otherwise noted, or you can leave them in their pots until you are ready to plant. We grow everything we sell ourselves, in our nursery in the Buckinghamshire countryside.
