Victorian Violas
Victorian Violas / Perennial Tufted Violas
Perennial Tufted Violas are a far cry from the large-flowered, short lived, winter-flowering pansy type plants which are grown as bedding plants. Rather, these are more refined, with neater foliage and smaller, but often more abundant flowers. They last for many years and are a true gem.
Viola cornuta was introduced from the Pyrenees in the late 18th century and was used to breed the perennial tufted pansies. These are sometimes called Victorian Violas. All are beautiful and flower for most of the summer when happy and many are highly scented. Their happy faces are a delight in any garden.
