Plant Overview
A lovely plant, grown for its foliage rather than its flowers, which are insignificant. 'Red Dragon' is distinguished by having red stems and leaves which emerge purple-brown, turning silver-purple, and finally green with maturity.
Good as a stand-alone border plant or planted as ground cover.
Discovered as a naturally occurring rogue seedling that appeared in a crop of Persicaria microcephela being grown for medicinal purposes in Nanjing, China.
Fully hardy in the UK. Awarded the RHS Award of Garden Merit.
Height and spread: 50cm x 90m
