Plant Overview
From South Africa comes this rare and sought after plant with turquoise-green petals and a black eye. Long arching spikes of flowers are carried on narrow stems above small amounts of grassy foliage. Expect one or two spikes in the first year but then many more as it the corms produce bigger plants in the subsequent years.
Grown as a cut flower in some parts of the world, where it attracts top prices from florists.
Can be grown in the ground but also works very well in containers, which can be moved into a prominent position when flowering.
Prefers a sunny well-drained position and protection from severe freezing.
