Plant Details

Neat mats of glossy dark green foliage with 1ft spikes of pale gentian blue and white flowers in May and June.

Appears to be very drought tolerant.

Graham Stuart Thomas recommends planting with Geums for a pleasing effect.

Height and spread: 30cm x 40cm

The genus name Veronica honors Saint Veronica who reportedly gave a handkerchief to Jesus so he could wipe sweat from his face on the way to Calvary, with some genus plants having markings that resemble the markings on the sacred handkerchief.

Common name(s): Gentian Speedwell

All our plants are supplied in 9x10cm pots unless otherwise specified. Plants in this size pot establish quickly in the garden and often outpace plants in bigger pots planted at the same time. We do not sell 'plug plants' because those need to be grown on before planting. Our potted plants can be planted immediately, unless otherwise noted, or you can leave them in their pots until you are ready to plant. We grow everything we sell ourselves, in our nursery in the Buckinghamshire countryside.
