Plant Details

A beautiful pale blue spring flower that gives foliage value all year round. Dark green leaves, heavily decorated with bright silver markings.

Perfect for a dark, shady spot that doesn't get too dry.

A good source of early season food for bees and are very attractive to them, particularly the 'hairy footed flower bee', Anthophora plumipes.

Height: 25cm

Some names describe the former use as a cure for lung ailments, some the colour and shape of the flowers, some the spotting of the leaves and some the contrast of the pink/blue flowers. Used in cottage gardens for centuries and remains deservedly popular. They are not fussy about position, provided it is not too dry and there is some shade.

Common name(s): Lungwort; Jerusalem Cowslip; Bethlehem Sage; Spotted Virgin; Soldiers and Sailors; Josephs and Marys

Synonym: Pulmonaria 'Ocupol'

All our plants are supplied in 9x10cm pots unless otherwise specified. Plants in this size pot establish quickly in the garden and often outpace plants in bigger pots planted at the same time. We do not sell 'plug plants' because those need to be grown on before planting. Our potted plants can be planted immediately, unless otherwise noted, or you can leave them in their pots until you are ready to plant. We grow everything we sell ourselves, in our nursery in the Buckinghamshire countryside.
