Plant Details

The hollyhock is a classic English country cottage plant and this is a wonderful double creamy-yellow hollyhock that really stands out in the border.

Alcaea ‘Banana’ is a double-flowered hollyhock cultivar, bearing masses of fully double, pale yellow blooms, on tall stems. For best results grow in moist but well-drained soil in full sun to partial shade.

Hollyhocks have been grown in gardens for centuries, their tall spikes of satiny, crepe-textured flowers making a fine display in mid-summer. Best at the back of a sunny border, with something in front to hide their bare lower stems.

Height: 2m

Common name(s): Hollyhock

All our plants are supplied in at least 9x10cm pots. Plants in this size pot establish quickly in the garden and often outpace plants planted in bigger pots at the same time. We do not sell 'plug plants' because those need to be grown on before planting. Our potted plants can be planted immediately, unless otherwise noted, or you can leave them in their pots until you are ready to plant. We grow everything we sell ourselves, in our nursery in the Buckinghamshire countryside.
